This guide is for existing “Innovation Management for Jira” customers only.
Install Sparkr
The first step to migrating is installing the new app, Sparkr, from the Atlassian Marketplace listing. A detailed guide on how to do this can be found under Getting started.
As an existing customer, you will already have a number of key elements configured (e.g. issue types and issue link type). So when you follow the Get started link after successful installation, you will see “already exists” information messages for Problem, Possibility and Solve elements. Importantly, however, you should see the Configuration Data as successfully setup.
Sparkr - Migration - Get Started.webmMigrate Personas
Sparkr Persona names must match their Innovation Management for Jira counterparts to maintain their associations with Problems and Possibilities.
Personas are stored as properties against the unique app entity and unfortunately apps can only access either own entity data. Thus, migration of Personas from Innovation Management for Jira to Sparkr requires manual work.
For each persona you have in Innovation Management for Jira create a new persona with the same values manually. The persona name is a unique key that is used for association with problems and possibilities, thus if a new Sparkr Persona is created with the same name the existing links will be maintained.
Validate Migration
Once you have created Sparkr Personas, it’s time to validate that the app has access to your existing innovation data. To do so, navigate to the Sparkr Dashboard and check to see all existing Problems and Possibility data is displayed. Additionally, check the Persona dashboard card to validate that your newly created Sparkr personas are associated with your Problems and Possibilities.
Sparkr - Migration - Check Dashboard.webmNext, navigate to a Problem and Possibility to check that the exiting details are displayed under the Sparkr issue view panel. You will see both Sparkr and Innovation Management for Jira issue view panels until you uninstall Innovation Management for Jira in the next step.
Remember to click the Sparkr icon to show the app panel when viewing a Problem or Possibility!
Uninstall Innovation Management for Jira
App data is stored in your Jira instance, not tryble.io servers, so nothing is technically deleted in this uninstall process. It just can’t be accessed without our apps installed.
Now that Sparkr is successfully installed and you have migrated your existing Personas, you can uninstall Innovation Management for Jira app.
As a Jira Administrator, navigate to manage apps (Jira settings > Apps > Manage apps)
Expand the Innovation Management for Jira listing
Click Uninstall and confirm the action
Optionally, provide us the feedback that you’ve migrating to Sparkr.
Verify the uninstall by reloading the Manage apps page, or navigating to the global menu to check “Innovation” is no longer visible.
